What a crazy couple of days! This weekend was Walnut Creek's Night of Champions--their annual fund raiser, the Russian Olympic Team's first visit to San Francisco, and our first exhibition of our Olympic free program! The evening went really well. Our tech performance was our best yet (say our coaches!) and although our free program wasn't mistake-free, it was still a pretty good first showing. We are really satisfied with our progress, especially because the Russians were only brave enough to swim their technical program and an exhibition program. I guess their free isn't ready yet! Swimming for such a supportive and excited home crowd is really motivating, and performing with swimmers from all different levels reminds you of the journey you've been on yourself. Plus, your family and friends love you and love what you do no matter how good the routine is technically-speaking! I'm really glad to be able to draw on these feelings at the games when the U.S. and all but my closest family and friends will be an ocean away.
The Russians left this morning and, after a restful day off, it's back to practice as usual tomorrow for me. I'm expecting this week to go particularly fast since it's a short week and because our schedule is pretty packed. I really appreciate all the messages so far and keep them coming! 45 days to go!!
